Question about parts that aren’t being manufactured anymore

How can a motor work properly with a near broken part, is it part of the timing advance and carb synch ?

its for holding timing, and for small timing adjustments at idle. i'm sure you could easily get it to run without that screw!

If you can't find a new part, or even a used part, that shouldn't be that hard to duplicate, or make something that would work equally well. That is what being an older boat owner is all about. But that equally is what makes it so interesting at the same time too... JMHO
