i've completely rebuilt my omc 350 engine, now am ready to
reinstall it.
what steps do i need to do for a correct install, as far as connecting to the
intermediate drive
the intermediate drive was never moved, just took the engine out.

both the engine and 800 stringer drive are 1981.

any help will be appreciated

Re: question about reinstalling my omc engine

You removed just the motor and not the bell housing correct?

Did you remove the drive and shaft?

If yes to both than slip in the engine bolt it to the bell housing, and install the flywheel cover. Than install the drive shaft with the ball gear.

Might have to tie up the drive to lift it so the motor slides in even with the bell housing. After bolted together you can untie the drive and slide in the ball gear shaft.

If you did not remove the drive than you will have to lower the engine 6 inchs forward of the bell housing and slide in the shaft as you push the motor rearward.

Re: question about reinstalling my omc engine

I just unbolted the engine from the bellhousing,
and pulled the engine forward, didn't remove the shaft.

so it sounds like i just have to align the engine to the
bellhousing and bolt it up. no other alignment issues?

thanks

Re: question about reinstalling my omc engine

Nope no issues, other than somehow lifting the out drive so the intermediate

that is connected to the bell housing lines up with the motor.

I tie it up with a rope when someone else lifts it.

You checked the coupler, good and greased.

You checked the splines on the shaft, good and grease?

Your good to go.

You got the manifolds on yet, or gonna install them with the riser after it's bolted in?

i've check the coupler and the splines on the shaft,
both are in good condition and will be well greased.
i thought i'd put the manifolds on after i had the engine
bolted down.

Re: question about reinstalling my omc engine

After you greeeeze the shaft splines and coupler, just toss it in and bolt 'er down. You don't have any alignment concerns like on those black anchors.:p:D
