Question about throttle control lever for blackmax

My throttle lever doesn't seem to stay put when cruising down the lake. If I don't rest my wrist on it, it will slowly move back towards idle. It won't come all the way back but will slow down to about 1500rpm. I have noticed a screw hole at the bottom of the lever with nothing in it. Is there a set screw that is supposed to go in there holding friction on the lever or do I need to replace the whole control assembly? If there is a screw missing, where do I get another one. I haven't seen one in the exploded views of the parts section of this site. Thanks.

Some throttle control units have a friction setting, but a lot do not. Not sure what you have. Normally corrosion of the throttle cable eliminates that issue, after a while.....

Its the original QuickSilver throttle control. 1987. I assume it came with the engine when it was new. I hate to spend 300.00 bucks on a new control and will probably live with it another summer if I do but would love to be able to fix it if possible.

Piece 10 is just a set screw which holds the handle on. If you look at steps 5 thru 7 on batdaddys link you will see the newer levers use a friction sleeve and a plug instead of a ball. Your issue appears to be lack of friction. Suggest taking it apart and see if you can make something up to increase the resistance
