question about wire gauge

On 115 volt wires, there is lots of info on gauge, i.e 12 gauge for 20 amp, 10 gauge 30 amp, etc. Also charts for lenghts of wire and voltage drop. <br />Do the same amp rules apply at (stranded)12 volt applications?<br />Be happy enjoy life and rewire without electrical fires. Batavier

Yes. The conductor is rated for ampacity (current capacity) and the insulation is rated for voltage. Voltage drop is a function of the wire's resistance and the current flow through it.
