Question about Yammie 60

Was taking my black beauty out for a spin yesterday. Had a guy and 3 of his buddies launch a GIII tin boat with a 60 Yammie in front of me. Water temp was 56 for ref. The Yammie fired right off but there was a ton of smoke. It never died and did all the motor things the owner expected, but I was just wondering about all the smoke.

Is this what they do?
Thanks,

Mark

Re: Question about Yammie 60

Perhaps it was just coming off winterization and was burning off fogging oil. The yammies are flawless engines. Iv'e had mercs and yammies both..........no comparison. Normally the Yammies are 100:1 gas/oil mixture and don't smoke as much.

kid

Re: Question about Yammie 60

depends, was it a premix model with inccorect fuel mix? thats a yammie warrenty issue I guess, was it an F60 that someone left at full trim down for a long time? I guess thats a product issue as well.
I bet we would have more automobile issues if we all turned our automobiles on their sides for long term storage and only ran them once a month maybe.

Re: Question about Yammie 60

Well I was impressed with how well it responded; excluding the smoke.

My current '02 Merc seems to be environmentally strangled and it is a pain to get it lit off and stay lit the first thing in the morning.....first Merc I had that was fuel starved.......but you need a magnifying glass to find any oil fumes.

Well, beins we're yaking, I drifted over to the Yam web site the other day and noticed that their 90 was running in at 60 cubes. My black 90 runs in at 85 cubes. Now we all know what cubes does on the hole shot and bruddah mine has a hole.

So with their reputation, Mr. Yamaha's reputation, why did they skimp on the 90's cubes?

Mark
