What aftermarket model outdrive gear oil reservoir would i want for my outdrive ?

I have a 5.7Mercruiser Alpha1Gen2.

I've seen SEI, but can't be sure how to install it.
How does it go through transom ?

Does the hose simply screw into outdrive-upper gear oil hole ? I've seen a picture that uses an access hole through the front of the upper. Would i have to drill that ?

How is it best to fill the outdrive gear oil with a reservoir attached ?
How is it best to drain the outdrive gear oil with a reservoir attached ?

thanks

A reservoir can help tell you when you have an issue and can help save your drive WHEN there is an issue. They are especially helpful for people that put their boat in the water and leave it in all season, as you can not check the outdrive oil while the boat is sitting in the water. It lets you keep an eye on fluid levels and condition. If you go out on the boat for a day and the bottle is full then you notice the next day that it is half full, it indicates to you that there is a leak. Without it you would have been running the drive half a quart low on oil. If water gets in the drive you can see that the oil is milky in the clear bottle.

Pikey reservoirs *can* do all of that, if they are properly maintained and actually looked at. They also can give you a false sense of security when the Mercruiser fluid is all gunked up in the bottom of them and they aren't working properly.

stopher you drain and fill the drive the same way you would even if you didn't have a reservoir bottle.

Ayuh,... The Gen.II's are already plumbed in through the transom plate...
You should be able to find the capped off port, or bundled up hose, just above the drive shaft...
