I keep my boat in a saltwater bay in NJ, and have had problems with growth on the outdrive (barnacles). I pull the boat about every 4 weeks to power wash the drive, but it makes me wonder about whats growing inside the outdrive. If I where to buy a new boat and keep it moored in saltwater I would buy an outboard.<br /><br />John

Hmmm...really? Up here, we have big muskies and even sturgeon up to 200 lb., if you like that sort of thing.<br /><br />Can't eat either of 'em, really, so I stick with the eatin' fish, mostly.

They're right! Honestly, after having been born and raised on the coast fishing for halibut and lings and tuna, I can count on one hand the number of times I have bothered fishing in freshwater.

And it tastes better too!

Plus fishing in the salt, you can pull up almost anything. Salmon shark, and 50 lb humboldt squid are some fun surprises I can remember. I do like fishing the salmon runs in the river though.
