You mentioned that only copper plug wires should be used on JIMMEHOFFA's johnson.<br />Why is this ?<br />does this apply to a mid eightys evinrude as well ?

I think all 2-stroke outboards use copper wire. I'm not sure about the 4-strokes. Supressor wires have carbon inside which likes to break connections inside the wire considering all of the shaking that goes on. Copper also delivers more of the voltage to the sparkplugs where supressor wires lose some of it. I know it means more radio noise, but with older 2-strokes you can't hardly hear the radio with the motor running anyhow. Supressor or resistor plugs help in that situation. But mostly it's to deliver the most possible voltage to the sparkplugs and for reliability.
