Question from a first time owner

This may seem like a silly question, but here goes. I have a 1989 Mariner 40 Hp oil injected. Do I need to run the engine dry of gas before pulling the boat from the water? I was told that since I have oil injection I shouldn't worry about it. Which leads me to ask, does the oil get injected before the fuel enters the carbs? Thanks for the info.

lazydawg,

That question has been debated for years.

In my view, I wouldn't run it out of fuel if you are only parking it for a week or two.

Yes, the oil is injected before the carbs. Thus, the quandry. By running it out of fuel, it loads the carbs up with oil.

I always run fuel conditioner (Sea Foam) in my fuel, so I don't worry about it.
