Long story short, bought boat, spring leaf snapped within a mile, pretty sure the other one is about to go and the axle looks pretty bad...

The current leaf spring, eye center to eye center, looks to be 27 3/4 inches, and I can't seem to find one locally to replace it with. I like the idea of replacing the entire axle assembly with new hangers. I was looking at these two items to be specific...

with this...

Now, do I need to weld the bracket to the frame of the trailer?

Anything I should know before I proceed? The boat is roughly 700-900ibs.

Are there better places to order from for similar items?

I'm sure this is common knowledge to most people here, so please be patient with me.

Thanks,

bob

I have seen some setups that bolt the axle set to the frame using Ubolts, however, with the items that you are considering, I do think that you are going to need to weld the brackets to the frame...

Springs tend to sag after a while, so your 27 3/4" springs were probably 27" when new. 27" X 1 3/4" is a standard size. If your axle is still in good shape you can just replace the springs. iboats doesn't have your size, but here's one place that does.
