Question on a 12/24 volt trolling motor

My trolling motor is an older model trolling motor(omc cobra) that is a 12/24 volt, It's wired as a 12 volt on 2 batteries right now. If I were to change the batteries wiring to 24 volts would It change the amount of pounds that it pulls? I'm going to replace this at a later date but this one works and I have other priorities first like a new Lowrance HD DI Combo.

No more thrust but it would run more proficiently and the batteries would last longer on a days run. You need to be sure to do this properly as there are a couple different ways of suppling 24V to a trolling motor.
