I'm re-assembling my 1990 30 hp evinrude engine fly wheel and was curious about what torque setting for the fly wheel nut;I have a torque wrench but can also learn by feel ,any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

How do I keep hold of the flywheel from turning while torqueing the fly-wheel nut. Someone gave me their idea to get a friend and a some-sort of belt or towel and wrap it around the flywheel to grab onto the teeth while the other torques the fly wheel nut.

Any ideas on this

thanks

well i am not sure of the torque setting on that motor is but they are usually around 100ft pnds if you have the book for the motor it should be in there,as for tightening it up is there a timing mark braket on the back of the motor in witch you can have a buddy hold a screwdriver between the bracket and the teeth of the flyweel wile you torque it?

thank you aquitaresty for the 100 ft pounds statistic and the tip about the screwdriver for keeping the flywheel steady.
