I have a little confusion.
I had water intrusion on my 1983' 115hp Evinrude V4.
After a pressure test I noted the leakage was at the shift rod bearing in the cover.
I took it apart but see no obvious O-ring, nor a real place to install one.
I have the factory manual and it just says 'Install the O-ring' with a picture of the underside of the shift rod cover.
It seems to me they figure it is obvious, but all I see on the cover is just a flat protrusion on the underside where the shift rod penetrates with no place to fit an O-ring.
I ordered a new shift rod cover just to be safe as well as a new O-ring, but I wonder what I am missing here? Also does the new shift rod cover come with bushing and O-ring installed? Did not see on the schematic a separate part for the 'bushing' portion but did see the O-ring part.
Any help would be appreciated.
