How does a dolphin compare to trim tabs? Would they work as well as the tabs as far as getting up on plane quick and being able to slow down and stay on plane?

Re: Question on Smart Tabs

I have not found any draw backs on the tabs yet--

RE the Dolphin-- I think when you query tabs or hydrofoils on this forum are any other you will learn as many of us did ---skip the dolphin buy the tabs

The dolphin will hinder to many aspects of the boat's performance, it is badly out dated. It will assist in lift but that's where it ends

Re: Question on Smart Tabs

I had a hydrofoil on my boat,it was on it when I got it.Didn't really pay any attention to it.Did notice in turns it was scary.Started reading about smart tabs on iboats.I took hydrofoil off and rain boat, had alot of bow rize ,planing was really bad,but cornering was much better.
I bought a set of smart tabs,by the way, their support is great, called John several times asking question.I had to install my smart tabs in close to the drive due to the way my transom is made. After a couple of adjustments to the tabs,I have to say the boat trims out very quick,I actuly gained 2-3 miles a hour, cornering is outstanding, very little role.I will never go back to the hydrofioil.
