Re: Question on swim ladders and platforms

If you want a quick fix you can just run down to any boat store and buy a retractable swim ladder. A little more pricey (sp?) and better is a little fiber glass plat form with a swim ladder. But you usually dont do that with I/O's. Its usally a solid peice along the whole transome.

I'd like to tag an additional question onto this:

If your boat already has a swim platform (fiberglass) but no ladder, what are some options?

what about the old hook over the side ladder, then throw it in the floor, so you can trip over it. thats what is still use. but not in the floor, on the gunnel with a bungee.

Re: Question on swim ladders and platforms

someone makes a bolt on swim platform that will mount on either side of the outdrive, you would either have to relocate you tie down ring. or make the plateform removable.

Looks like a swim-step with ladder would work well on that boat. You could get a custom made swim-platform for it but it could be pricey.

Yeah you could just slap a ladder on the back but it wouldn't look to good. Not because of a poor job but because it just wouldnt look right. Even with the little swim step. Your best be would really to get a full fiber along the whole transom.

The problem with just putting a ladder on it is that the IO gets in the way, and you dont want anyone get hurt.

Re: Question on swim ladders and platforms

i just use what td's useing. seems to work ok. it also has the appeal to me of not drillin holes in my boat. as for storage. mine aint on the floor either. it fits under my backtoback seating......but i will say theyz big and obnoxious. if i'd have not found a good place to stash it i might think about a perminent one.....do get something though. it is a safety item as it's very difficult to get inot any boat with any freeboard at all. that would be one benifit of perminant too. if i was alone and fell overboard. i couldn't deploy my ladder to get back in. a perminant one would be there to use from the water....back of yer boat don't look like it lends itself real well for perminat mounting though. got any pics of the rest of the boat. looks pretty snazy from the back.....what is it?

One of these would work with tabs but as was mentioned earlier, some don't like the looks of them. They work well though.
