I recently bought a ProCraft that has a 2000 Mercury XR6 150hp on it. The trim motor makes a terrible noise when in use. Nothing weong with the operation up & down, just noise. Took it back and dealer told me that Mercury had put a bad batch of trim motors on some boats, noise was the problem. Does anyone know if this is true? Sure get some looks at the boat ramps..

I think you are hearing cavitation in the hydraulic pump, Quick1. Hydraulic pumps are notorious for noise when loaded or when low on oil.

Okay, thanks. He check the fluid level and said was ok. Can you run a quick explanation on how to check the level and what type of fluid goes in it. Didn't get any manuals with the boat. I've only owned the tilt/trim that were mounted inside the boat. This is all new to me.
