question on Yamaha ELG 40 carb rebuild

I'm rebuilding the carbs on my 88 ELG 40 inline 3. These are Keihin BCK carbs. I am trying to determine what the proper orientation is for the main jet needle (nozzle). Here are a couple pics . This first pic is how it was oriented when I removed it. That large hole on the very top was in the carb port to starboard. However I'm questioning if it should be as the second picture shows , bow to stern? OR... does it not matter? Any info is appreciated. thx in advanceIMG_6605.JPGIMG_6604.JPG

I don't think the rotational orientation matters. The Yamaha service manual says nothing about how it is to be inserted into the carburetor.

Thank you very much. I do have a manual (but it is not the Yamaha service manual, it's by some other company. IT's close, but I've found discrepancies). Anyway, mine says nothing either. I questioned it because I was curious if that larger hole in the top of that nozzle, lines up exactly with a hole that is in the orifice where the nozzle goes and the main jet screws into. this hole in the carb casting allows fuel to flow from the low/idle circuit to the main. I started to question it's orientation , thinking maybe it should be lined up with that hole that joins the low and main circuit. But since your Yamaha service manual does not specify an orientation, it probably does not matter. I know on 'other' carbs where it matters, that nozzle will only go in one way. But I just wanted to be sure before I put these babies back on. Thank you very much for the information.

I agree with Bosco,
if it mattered, they would make them to only fit one way or give info on how they need to be installed.
And just for the info the fuel flows from the main jet to the idle/pilot jet to limit what both jets dump into the motor at High RPM there should be a rubber plug in the pilot jet pick up to keep fuel from flowing thru there.
at least that is the way my 1999 40 is set up
