First of all I want to thank those that replied to my question about my old 4hp Merc a while back. I love this forum!!! So polite and informative!!!! Thank you!
My elderly neighbor gave me an old Eska 9hp sear motor. It runs great!!!! However, for some reason, he "welded it so that it would stay in forward because I keep breaking shear pins". Those are his exact words. When I start the boat, I have to be pointed the direction I want to go because it is always in forward. lol I would like to correct this and put it back to how it is supposed to be; starting in neutral, forward, reverse.....I have no idea where the weld would be? Can someone please tell me where I should look and how to fix this? I suspect grinding will be involved.
BTW, shear pins breaking are not an issue any more. I bought the proper ones for it instead of using brazing rod
Thanks in advance
