Question screws or crown stapels

I had to tear out a 2x2 section of flooring in back right side (soft), on 84 chris craft 210 scorpion. I cant believe how hard the stringers are underneath the floor. Chris craft put some serious craftmanship into those, it looks like a woven basket. My question is they used like 2" crown stapels to nail down the floor, so I was wondering if i could use decking screws to put that section in with then glass.
