Re: Question to the performance Merc experts

...so it would probably have about 500 hp with a 7000+ rpm red line. I think that would make a killer combo if it was setup correctly. What are your thoughts?

I think you are violating my one piece of advice, ("don't build it like a drag car {or a circle track car at that]") and you'll be sorry. Don't say you weren't warned. High RPM and wild cams are a BAD BAD BAD idea in sterndrive applications.
I thought you didn't have any money? You'll spend more putting in this LS whatever small block than you would on a set of Dart heads, intake and carb.
BTW, no WAY a 7.4 only has a 2bbl carb on it. It's probably a Weber AFB design too, not a Q-jet.
Bond-o may have come offf as rude, but you have totally veered off from what you actually asked. I'm out too.

Ok good to know.
The Ls1 thing is something I always though would be cool but I'll be the first to admit I don't know enough about boat's that is why I was asking about it.
Just though it would be helpful to tell me why it won't work instead of name calling.

I'LL bug out too, I just wanted info, not a **** match. best of luck to you all.

Thank to all that gave me constructive advice! I'll probably try the higher ratio rockers and maybe the Performer 2.0 and Holley 750 that jtmarten suggested.

Out.
