I'm looking at a 19 ft 1979 Baretta boat with an inboard motor. The guy that is selling it bought it as a project boat (sounds familiar) and then realize he is not up to the task. Anyone can give any general information about these boats/inboard? Like what type of motor they have, horsepower, speed, experiences with that type boator so. I have never owned an inboard. I have always have outboards motors so I really don?t know what are the particularities, cons/pros of the inboards. I can fix a motor, which seems to be the problem in this one. Have only seen the photos and will contact the guy later, just want to get any information I can.

Thanks!

Re: Questions about a 1979 19 ft Baretta boat

Update:
I told this guys like a week ago that all I could give him was $250.00 and not the $800.00 he wanted. He said he would take $500.00, I said "no thanks". Well, he calls today, double checking what I was offering because he has "another" buyer. (funnyhow that works) Anyway, I said $250.00 and he says he thinks the guy will give him more. I said good luck. Hung up. 3 minutes go by, he calls again, he really dont know what to do with the boat, he wants $350.00, I say no, $250 and tells him all I know about his boat and he says, well, I need the money. We are closing the deal monday, not before I make sure I have a spark in that motor...

I knew after me buying that other boat he might call. Guess I have 2 projects for this winter and 3 boats to choose which one I keep. If I can sell the other 2 and get even with the expenses I will be happy. I doubt that though, but I dontwant to sell a crappy boat to someone else.
