They can't be reset but why bother even trying, just do like the prior owner did and replace it. The fact that the owner knew it was replaced does add some credibility to the prior owner. Maybe it just failed and the guy wanted to keep the boat in good working order. I'd be o.k. with that if the boat is in otherwise good condition and priced appropriately. Theres a lot to feeling like you have a trusting relationship with the seller. If it feels right buy it, if not then don't.I don't know of any cheap ones either that can be reset. I'd be leery.
