Re: Questions about Johnson 18 Sea Horse
Hello Lark40 and JB,<br />Thank you for your reply! Model #fd14....Serial #2028292. A local shop here had told me that the Johnson is a 1960. The owner of the shop had also advised me to run a 50:1 mix because todays oils are far superior and would lubricate sufficiently as a 50:1 mix. He had also told me to use only a quality (Johnson 2 cycle) oil. Indicating that less expensive (cheap) oils were not as good in quality. This motor has sat for two years so I installed a new impeller, thermostat, plugs, and prop shear pin. It did fire on the fourth pull, however it did smoke quite heavily. Thank you for any info or help or advise you can offer. Take care!<br />"Stars on the Water"
