(88 Yamaha 90 hp)
After rebuilding my carbs I attempted to time and synchronize everything but ran into a problem. I was setting all the preliminary rod link adjustments when I found one of the rods would not adjust out to the length stated in the manual. The manual states to adjust the stator control link rod to 74mm. When I tried to adjust it out that far but it wasn’t long enough. Is there something I’m doing wrong? I looked at a parts diagram to see in the previous owner may have put the wrong part on but that part look short too.

Should I even worry about the preliminary link rod adjustments and go to the static and dynamic timing? Any advice on this would be great.

Thanks,
Charles.

Yes go straight to the static and dynamic timing. There never seem to come out right even when you can adjust to the reccomended lenghts.
