1972 50 hp elect with a 78 center section

two questions
1.my mid section is from a different engine whats the best way to seal the hole where the wires come thru

2. do i need a special prop because of the exhaust

1. Huh? The wires seal the hole.

2. The prop is different only in that it has thru-hub exhaust...not a hydroelectric exclusive.

yes where the wires come thru the housing leaks exhaust and water from the lower unit. someone gave me the heads up on a earlier post and they hit it on the spot but need to fiqure how to seal

The rubber electric cable has annular raised rings around it. If you pull the cable through the hole far enough so that those rings are inside the hole, that does the sealing. If it is too short to allow the rings to enter the hole, you have it wrapped around a water tube or something. You should have lubricated the rings before installing, to make it easier to pull into the hole. But at this point just squirt some oil down the hole to slick it up.

F R, he is saying that he has a later '78' mid section on this engine thus the everything is different.

You are correct if the mid section was the original. Without seeing it, I'm stumped.

Yeah, so where is he bringing the wires up through? I dunno either.

thats the problem think it must be the hole where the shift lever would have been must be some kind of sealer that would work but still come off if need be
