HEllo, I bought this boat and it didn't have a lower end unit on it. I am needing one and I am not sure what I need. can you help? I know I need more info so please let me know what to post.
The boat is a Steury78 model house boat, v8 engine(ford/chrysler), and the other parts for the lower unit are mercursier.
here are some pics:

Ayuh,...

It must be a Ford motor, as Merc. has Never used Chryslers....

That being the case, it had an 888 outdrive which is another name for the Mod.1 drive....
You can replace it with any of the Alpha series up to but not including the Gen.IIs....

I'd suggest an SEI Alpha 1, with a 1.50:1 gear ratio....

I echo the suggestion for the Se106. While there is no outdrive on this boat it is a good time to rebuild your transom area - new bellows, shift cable, gimbal bearing, etc.

By the way - I like your screen name. I've had the 56 in my picture for 32 years now! (Has it really been that long?? Man, I'm getting old! ;) )

Go to the top of this page. On the right hand side, just above your original post, click on the link for MerCruiser Drive Assemblies
