I recently purchased a boat with a Johnson 65 Electric outboard model VXL-14B (Ser.#J2880348). Can anyone tell me the year manufactured? Is this considered a 2-stroke engine? 3 cylinders? Obviously I am an outboard newbie!

I would also be interested in purchasing a users manual, new or used in decent condition. Sources?

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

That would be a 1968 Model. It is a 2-stroke engine that requires mixing outboard TCW-3 oil with the fuel at a ratio of 50:1 (1 pint oil per 6 gallons of gas). Ebay can be a source for a manual or there are ones sold here at iboats.

the best manual, is the Johnson manual for your specific motor, it is an electric shift and requires special instructions. outboardbooks.com

It's a 4-cylinder motor - called a V4.
