Quick Alpha 1 Question

I have everything winterized on the boat with the exception of changing the drive fluid. I still need to get some new plugs for when I change the fluid. Would there be any problem if I drained the fluid and left the drive empty for a few weeks or should I just leave the old fluid in it? The drive is all the way down and the prop has been removed. The drive is an Alpha 1 Gen 2 (2007 with about 19 hours on it).

A couple weeks won't hurt.Just don't do what one customer did.He thought
his buddy put the oil in,the buddy thought he did.
The gearcase they had to buy in the spring after the first outing was costly.

Re: Quick Alpha 1 Question

Thanks for the advice. I have pulled both plugs very briefly and the fluid is black not milky so I have no reason to think it has water in it. I guess I will leave it full until I can get to the marine store and get the plugs, probably thanksgiving weekend.

I and the dealer are the only ones that do maint. on my boat. Things like this are exactly why!
