Re: Quick carb cleaning ***UPDATED W/ VIDEOS***

I had just reread your last post and the 7/16 float adjustment didn't sound right so I looked it up in the book. Turn the carburetor upside down with the floats resting on the inlet needle. Measure the distance from the base of the carburetor to the bottom edge of the float. This measured distance "MUST BE" 11/16. Now that measurement is with the gasket OFF. If you don't have this measurement carefully bend the float lever, in your case up, to obtain the correct measurement. When you turn the carb upside down you will be looking at the bottom of the float. If the passage where the inlet valve goes is clogged you wont get any fuel out of it.

By the needle, do you mean the needle that goes on the float into the little hole? Is that the seat? if so, it didnt come with my rebuild kit...

I dont see anything called needle valve seat on the carbs diagram.. the parts i replaced are :

Mixing Chamber Gasket
Low Speed Mixture screw
Spring
Float Pin
Stem Gasket
Float Bowl Gasket
Fuel Inlet Needle
Main Jet
Washer
Plug

I just took the carbs off again (Yea, at 10PM in the cold with a flashlight.... Im gonna double check all my work tommorow... let me know what the "seat" is..

PS - When i took the bowl cover off, there was about 2oz of fuel in each bowl.

Mnemonic I assumed that your motor was a 1987 60hp with C series carbs. After reading your parts list you have "D" series carbs which according to my Seloc manual says they changed 60hp to "D" series in 1991. If this is in fact a D series carb your float adjustment is 7/16 at the lowest point on the horizontal surface of the float to the deck of the carb. I also noticed that there is no needle valve seat to replace. Man I am really sorry for my mistake

Yea, I dont know if you read my "Guess what, Im retarted!" post, my eyes were shot and my S/N is OD204109... which means its a 1993.

However, I think i found the problem. The gold screw that came in the carb rebuild kit is EXACTLY similar looking to the main jet. except there is no hole going through the screw. If there is no hole through the screw it wont allow any fuel into the stem, correct?

....and if the one you took out when you replaced it had one and this one doesn't I'd put the old one back in

Besides, its my bad eyes that caused the misinformation anyways.
