"do the jets need to be backed out some to work right?"
heres how I got in this situation...
The boat was running pretty good then one night we were heading back to the dock and a wire fell off a coil pack, its a 1983 johnson 90, we rode back in with someone holding the wire on the coil. next day I changed the coil and it still had a bad miss, figured I fouled the plugs so I put new plugs in. motor was still missing... took the carb off and cleaned everything, took the jets out and put them back in, didnt think about it until now but I just unscrewed them and screwed them completely back in. after cleaning the carb it ran worse and the choke solenoid made it rev really high if I used it. after drawing a blank I checked the spark and noticed the cyl under the one the wire fell off of had no spark either, new coil there and it still doesnt run right. do the jets need to be backed out some to work right? new to outboards but I have worked on plenty of cars before this.
New Plugs
New Coils
Cleaned Carbs
Fresh Gas 50:1 mix.
Compression 115-120psi on all 4
