Re: quick computer question

The wireless print server will certainly work but is a bit of a workaround. Inkjet printers have a life expectancy of about 3 years so if you're getting near that point, you might want to take a look at buying a printer with wireless capability and do the job right.

With either one you'll need to add the device and it's drivers to your existing system so the work to connect is probably about the same.

When I set up my first wireless print server, there were not a lot of options and the types of printers I needed, did not have wireless modules in them.. Now a days you can get pretty good quality printers with wireless capabilities..

As far as doing it right, that is a matter of opinion, but in a small home situation that only needs one printer, a wireless capable printer may be the way to go.

You are correct and I should have used different wording. We all have different circumstances at different times. This is one of the cases where there are alternate correct solutions.

Sorry bout' that

Well if you do decide to go wireless printer, it makes life much easier. We bought an Epson Artisan 810 all in one (print/fax/scan) that we use heavily for printing photos. Does an awesome job. Will also do two sided printing. Paid $270 at Best Buy. It took about two minutes to set up for wireless. We use Mac's which picked it up and added it easily. Only whine is the ink cartriges are spendy (it uses 6 different ones) but we print a ton of pictures, so it's more how we use it than it's fault. The scanner and fax work easily too.
