I was getting rid of my metal OMC tank in favor of a plastic Tempo tank. I noticed that the Tempo tank connector has the valve pin in the middle of the supply tube, rather than on the side, where it is on the OMC. Does this mean I have to use the Tempo quick connector, or will the OMC quick conncector still work with the Tempo tank conncector? I'm not clear on whether the check valve plunger on the OMC quick connector will push the valve pin all the way in on the tank conncector.

Re: Quick connectors

It should work. But after saying that, I am wondering if it is good for large engines that require 3/8" hose? But you probably won't be running a 6 gallon on those anyway?

Re: Quick connectors

no problem.Though I'm not crazy about the tempo tank.
The valve on my spare tank failed while I was away and the whole tank emptied out fortunately it was on a pontoon boat so it didn't fill the bilge.Just ruined the rear deck carpet and
I don't think an OMC ever did that to me in over 40 years. Now that I think about it I think I had another metal after market tank valve fail. And as I recall the gauges didn't work that well.In fact both my plastic tanks the gauges don't work anymore.(About 8 years old)
I have to admit my tanks get little or no care and sit exposed to the weather about 8 monts a year.

Re: Quick connectors

I'm running 5/16'' line, at least that is what was on it when I bought the boat. I don't mind the OMC tank but I think i'm sucking air somewhere at the tank connection, so I want to see at least if the new tank solves it. I bought two new OMC quick connectors but neither of them seems to fit as well as the old ones.

Re: Quick connectors

The OMC tanks will suck air around the little pin that gets pushed in when you connect to it. There is a little bitty o-ring around the pin. You remove the welsh plugs from the rear for access to replace it. Might as well replace all three o-rings in there while you are at it.
