quick fuel pump Q

When I bought my 1980 j 50 , it was missing the f.p. -Just got a new sierra unit ,but was expecting that the pressure/pulse port to have a threaded tube or grommet of sorts. Only because the port is threaded on my motor. Is this just the way the motor is made? Am I missing a part ? Did the P.O. mess something up ? BTW Should I use any type of sealant on the gasget when assembeling ? Thanks for the help !

that is the correct pump for the motor. no need for sealer. looks as if someone had the 3 line fuel pump on there and tapped the port, to connect the pulse line. be sure to mix fuel/oil 50-1.

There should be a gasket between the block and the pump. Without it you'll have a vacuum/pressure leak.

Thanks for the quick replies guys . Yes , Silvertip I got the new gasget with the kit - just gotta get a couple bolts to complete the install . Tashasdaddy , is there any pitfalls that I may have to watch out for because of the mod ?( and would you breifly describe it too ?) Thanks again!
