Quick one: location of serial # on an I/O

Probably a dumb question, but.....

I have always owned outboards and the serial number is usually on the bracket. I need to get the serial # off of my I/O. Is this found on the outdrive or on the engine itself. I'm just thinking that these are different components by different companies.

On my OMC it's on the outdrive, on the side of assembly near where the two halves meet.

on the upper unit below the top cap its a sticker , kinda lame but thats where mine is

Ayuh,....

There'll be a serial # on the Motor,+ another on the drive,+ possibly another on the transom assembley....
But,...
You haven't stated Who's driveline we're talking about.....
