Quick opinions wanted..

Recently replaced the cockpit floor in my 98 Islander 2001 with 3/4 marine grade plywood. I shiplapped the seams of the plywood (to minimize flex at the seams) and riveted the whole thing down. I also applied 5200 around the edges and in the seams.

The question is: Should I apply the kiwigrip directly to the plywood as the final coating, or should I go the extra mile and glass the floor then apply the kiwigrip.

What would you folks do?

You did an exceptionally nice job on that deck and used quality materials. I'd go the extra mile to protect it. At minimum, I'd epoxy resin it first. Nice work.

Thanks....I did actually treat the wood with the 2 part epoxy from rotdoctor.com, seemed to have pretty good reviews. I'm just thinking I should go the extra mile and throw some glass down. The main thing i'm worried about is the kiwigrip chipping off the wood, and cracking at the seams as i think they will still flex some.

Remember that poly doesn't stick to epoxy. So if you do add glass, it will have to be with epoxy resin.
