I have looked up the part numbers for several parts I need to by for my 67 Johnson Sea Horse 6hp CD-24. According to the parts book the prop I need is an 8x7-1/4 2 blade prop. When I punch in the part number it says part replaced by and gives two new part numbers. I have a choice 8x7 2 bld std or 8x7-1/4 2 bld. There is almost a $50 difference. Can I go with the std. prop and run it safely on my motor? Or do I need to pay the extra $50 and get the exact prop specs?
lastly, I have done very little ob motor maintenance work, are there good (free) instructional videos to watch for simpler things like prop replacement, water impeller replacement, and other general maintenance tasks? If so, I would love to know where to find them.
