Quick question by potential new boat owner: How to get boat gas?

I am thinking of buying a small lake house. With this, we'd have a small powerboat for tubing, etc. My question is, if the lake/pond doesn't have a marina or other place to get gas on the lake, how do I get fuel to my boat? Do I have to take it in & out of the water (to a gas station)? Or do I bring the fuel to the boat via a large gas tank?

I'm sorry if these are stupid questions, but when I was a kid, I remember being on boats where there was a large red (removable) gas tank...

I've always wondered how one gets those big gas buggy things to the gas station.

We just use those 5 gallon gas cans.

You pick it up and put it in the back of your pickup We've got one of the 14 gallon rollers and is it ever slow to fill from. Need to add a crank pump to it rather than just using gravity feed.

Hi. Depends on what type of boat you get. If it has a portable tank then you just fill it at the gas station and carry it to the boat. If it has a "below deck" type tank then you'll have to carry gas in cans to the boat and pump it in. Lots of syphon type portable pumps available.

yes, outboard powered boats can still have the 3 and 6 gallon removeable fuel tanks, however many boats have built-in tanks.

two people required to load/unload the gas buggy from a truck when its full.

I simply pull the boat out of the water to get fuel. my SeaRay had 37 gallons, which would be a pain in the but 5 gallons at a time.
