Quick Timing Question

On the 228 Merc Package. Chevy 305. Is the correct timing 8 or 10 deg before TDC. I am out of town and don't have my manual with me. I was just double checking everything earlier today and forgot which it should be so it is sat at 8 right now

8? BTDC @ 650-700 rpm. After getting dwell set between 26? - 31?.

Sorry don I should have posted I have Tbolt IV ignition no points... is it still 8 degrees? and my idle is right a about 700
