Hello,

I just purchased a 1994 chaparral 1830 SS sport as a project boat.
It needs a motor and some interior work but is actually a simple project for me.

My question is the control lever.
I powered the dash the other day to check the gauges and trim etc.
I noticed while playing with the tilt and trim buttons on the shifter a little switch that says "off" and "run" on the shifter itself. Never seeing this switch on a shifter before, I am really curious what it is for....

Since there is no motor in it, I really couldn't run the electric system through all it's paces to see what this switch is for.
Thank you,

It is for a lanyard that you are supposed to attach to your body like a PWC . . . If you fall out, boat shuts down. Mine is simply set to on, and there is no lanyard.

And where it says RUN it means just that. It is an ignition kill switch in the OFF position.
