I have a quicksilver 3000 classic remote control p/n 827720a23 and a mercruiser 3.0 stuck in neutral.At first the throttle only button seemed to be stuck.I took the unit apart and the only thing I found was a white plastic bushing that has a slit down the side which I don't know if this is normal or cracked.The throttle button works fine now.I don't see anything wrong in the remote control unit itself but when I put it in forward or reverse it stays in neutral.I don't see any movement on the shift cable assembly on top of the engine.Should I? I checked service bulletin 99-6 shift assembly equipped with shift assist and it looks fine.Where should I go next, either take apart the shift cable at the remote control or top of the engine to prove where trouble is? The shift cable is in the original location when the boat was new with no kinks or bends.

The shift cable at the engine should move, there is a box problem or a broken cable, more than likly in the box

I disconnected the cables and the shift cable is good to the engine.I took the remote control completely apart and found a blue plastic bushing broke which goes in the back of the gear the handle attaches to.I lined the bushing up and put the assembly back together and now I have forward and reverse.The unit shifts hard though.Does anyone sell parts for the back remote control unit? I can only find parts for the front.My p/n is 827720A23.

Ressurecting an old thread as a new member, sorry - thought it better than starting a new thread for an old topic...

Put a nice system in my buddies 23' Advantage with the Quicksilver (I think) 3000. When the assembly was put back together, a couple issues.

1. Throttle handle very loose in it's seat. Have been told there 's a plastic bushing or collar that needed to go back in, but do not recall seeing one when it came apart...? Would've kept it if I had!

2. Handle goes forward just fine. WHen trying to get reverse, handles feels very resistant, won't go more than 1/2 way back. Cables move, but feels like something is "binding". Have heard references to "jammed cables"... What's that mean, how can I check, and if it's the issue, how's it get fixed?

The two yellow/orange wires comming from the box - reconnected them just fine, but wondering what they're for? Striclty curiosity.

Welcome to Iboats!

Probably yellow/red. (I just replaced my controller a few weeks ago).

Anyway I think thats the neutral interrupt switch. Keeps you from starting it while its in gear.

Ah. Figured it was something like that, but I was wondering if there was a lock on reverse and maybe I hadn't got a good connection or something.

Thanks fo the reply! Anyone have input on the other issue? ALready missed Memorial Day weekend 'cuz of this issue. The local dealer hasn't had much to say, just want $800+ to replace the whole assembly without having much to say about what the problem could be or if it can be fixed. Same guys told me I had to break the button off to get the handle off, I read here after I did that about the push it inn/handle forward/gently pry it out trick. So I'm not REAL keen on theiir input just now, lol!

Most people only read and answer the original post anyway and will never see your question that is somewhere in the middle.
