Re: Quicksilver high performance gear oil in 86 Johnson 70
Every time I read this I just love it. Makes my day. Having been there before I fully understood the question, and it certainly is valid. However, having moved on to the "green pastures" all the hoopla that used to drive me crazy is just mired in the dust.
Outboard lower units are just about alike, have the same alum housings, SS gears, shafts, and shifters, have the same thrust loads for a given hp and on and on. OEM's don't make oil, it comes out of the ground. All they do is to have a refiner/distributor add a little coloring and their favorite additives, which are probably the exact same thing beins you are lubricating exactly the same thing.
Let's go fishin.......first one there gets the biggest fish......lotta truth to that....baloney on that. The little guys are more frisky and the lunker just lunks (waits)....that is where he got his name. He wants to be tantalised.
Gotta add this. When you go bass fishing with someone else in their boat, you usually wind up in the back seat. That means HE gets the best shots. Well, since I grow the suckers in my back yard and spend a lot of time watching them, fishing them and all, and also fish public lakes, like I said: The little tyke will jump out there and grab the first bait.....the mature dude will pick up the second one.
