The Quicksilver Laser 48-11070A40 21" pitch prop is designed to go on 135 hp(and above) V6 outboards and stern drives with the 4.75" gearcase.

It's not intended for your 90 horse power motor.

thanks for the reply, I understand what your saying. but will it fit mine. I had a 23 pitch on it and it worked fine but 5100 rpm at wot. and I have a 19 pitch on it now and it will get 5500 rpm way to easy, so I thought 21 would be about right. if the 21p will fit I think I will try it. it's a 2 hour drive to pick it up so I don't want to go that far if it won't fit. if both the prop and shaft are 15 spline will it fit. and again thanks for any info.

The problem will be the diameter. If over 14" which a lot of them are, it won't be able to turn a full revolution without striking your anti-vent plate/LU housing. I have run a 4.75 gearcase prop on my '02 90 Merc which was 14" and cleared my housing by 1/4" which was enough and I ran it long enough to get a performance curve established, but had to do some shimming to get the hub to turn without striking the rear of the housing.....the 4 1/4" housing prop recedes into the housing wereas the larger one is about the same diameter as the housing and has to be spaced away to keep it from rubbing. The running characteristics of that larger prop are significantly different than the regular 13+ inch prop that belongs on that engine. In short, get a different prop.

Watch the overall diameter like suggested. I pulled the prop off of my 84 merc 90 horse and I'm pretty sure it was the same spline as my 82 175 horse merc.

The spline is not the problem!!!!!!!!!

Actually, if your motor is turning 5500 rpm with a 19 pitch, that sounds right. You don't need to change props. :)

thanks for the reply, you did a very good job of telling me why it won't work. I thought if the splines fit together ok that it may work. even though it was designed for a larger motor. after reading you reply, I measured my 19 pitch from end of blade to center of hub and it was 6 and 3/4" and called the guy and had him measure his the same way and it was 7 and 1/2" from reading your post I learned that the pitch don't matter it's the diameter. so thanks again you answered in a nice way.

after reading your earlier post, I figured that out. my 19p was 6 and 3/4" from end of blade to center of hub and his was 7 and 1/2" thanks for the info, it was a big help to me.

it turns it to fast, I have to back off the fuel to keep from over turning it. and the 23 pitch I tried would not get high enough rpm's

yes, I do know what not designed for means. but some times things will work in a way they weren't designed to. like a 55 gallon barrel wasn't designed to take a bath in, but it will work for that.
