Quicksilver Skips past neural

I fixed my killswitch issue, then tried to put the Quicksilver throttle control back together. Got it together, but now there's no neutral. It's starts with high RPMs, then it will only go into drive and reverse. No neutral whatsoever. So I'm thinking I screwed something up when I put it back together. Any tips or advice? Stuck on the lake and gotta get it off the water in two days. No time to buy a manual for this repair. The throttle control looks like the attached picture.

Do you have the cables switched (as in throttle cable on the shifter and vs versa). With the engine OFF, disconnect the cables at the engine. Now have someone move the throttle just off idle and see which cable moves first. The one that does is the SHIFT cable. The theory here is that the engine must be "in gear" before throttle is applied. The farther you move the lever forward, the more the THROTTLE cable should move.

Re: Quicksilver Skips past neural

I don't think so. I never disconnected any cables. All I did was take the covers off the throttle control, checked the wires going to the kill switch and reassembled. It felt like there was some interference when I tried to screw the panels back on to the assembly. Perhaps I didn't assemble the linkages in the same orientation it was in before I took the panels off. It was in neutral when I began. Is there some way to test the neutral position? Thanks again.

Looks similar to the mercontrol. When you took cover off the neutral detent pin may have poped out therefor you have forward - reverse with no neutral, when you move from fwd to rev you should feel the neutral detent letting you know you are in neutral. There is no kill switch in the control , that is the neutral saftey switch that allows you to onle start the motor in neutral and not when in gear.

Hmmm, now I'm wondering what the neutral detent pin looks like. I'm pretty sure there's a kill switch in the throttle control box because there's a kill switch attached to the outside and when I removed the panels, I unplugged and replugged the kill switch. Attached is a pic that looks exactly like my control. Except mine is cleaner and lubed up. Thanks for your help, guys.

Re: Quicksilver Skips past neural

Figured it out. Had one of the parts on backwards and it wouldn't close. F-N-R all work fine. Got to the boat ramp. Docked the boat. Backed the truck down the ramp. Jumped back in the boat...out of gas. Had to load the boat on the trailer using trolling motor. Glad this ordeal is over. Thanks for everyone's help.
