Re: quicksilver throttle controls
I just took the whole thing apart, greased everything, and checked the wiring. it took me about 1-1.5 hrs from take down to having it all back together. The key for me is to take a digital picure before I start into tearing each section apart.
good luck and let me know if you need a walk-through... i'll do what I can/
I am still a little hesisitant to take it apart, and this past weekend, the center button didn't want to let me go into neutrual..... getting worried about it. Not sure what to do. i want to take it apart, but not sure what I am looking for. I did do the ring free from yamaha on my 1985 115 straight 6 and and WOW what a difference. Hesisitated and smoked, but then took off like a rocket and got a new top speed! wife is happy that we don't have to rebuid the carbs. That is her duty, and she wasn't looking forward to 3!
So what would one be looking for when I decide to give in and take this thing apart? I know nothing about installing new cables, although, I am not against it. I just want smooth throttle control and not dead spots when I want a specific throttle position. I have been looking at morse throttle controls, but am not sure what it entails to install new controls. is it easier to install new onews, or trouble shoot the ones that I have? Currently, when I run the throttle up to start it, it jumps in and out of gear and I know that this can't be good foro my gears! ie, when I push the button in really hard it loosens up and I can keep it in neutral and then whe it starts and is running it will jump into gear and then I pull it back towards neutral it gets out of gear. any help is appreciated! specifics is appreciated as I am a block head when it comes to this sort of thing.
