R/MR/Alpha drives

Hi All
Could someone tell me what the difference, if any there is between the Mercruiser R/MR/Alpha drives. I need to order a few parts & want to get the right ones first time around. 1984 MCM140 ,drive s/n 6749413.

Basically the same, slight differences in shafts, seals, bearings gears, etc.
What exactly are you looking for?

Thanks Don, It needs a lot,its been neglected, its a charity job for a co workers son, All bellows,Gimbal bearing, U jionts, shift cable, fwd trim cylinder pivot pin, probably a water pump, hopefully thats all.

Sounds like it's had water in the bellows. Be sure to check the yoke that goes into the drive, and replace the seal. IF there is water in the drive, you may have even more problems. The word "Neglected" followed by the words All bellows,Gimbal bearing, U jionts, shift cable, fwd trim cylinder pivot pin, probably a water pump, usually means you are looking at a lot more expense that you are aware of.
