Here's the deal on late 80's, early 90's fridges. Those units had a door that sits very proud of the flange. They appear to have been partially assembled during the install.

Your boat is very similar to Sea Rays Sundancer model. The trick to replace the units intact is to measure your companionway opening, and buy a unit the will fit in the cabin entryway intact. The old unit, you need to remove at a minimum, the door.

The rough opening for the oem fridge will usually be larger, so a new flange needs to be fabricated.

Vetrifrigo makes a good replacement unit for a fair price.

You measure your companionway opening, buy a unit that will just slide into the cabin, and fabricate an opening and new flange base.

I just redid my Sundancer where both the galley fridge and cockpit wet bar fridge was replaced with Vetrifigo units..

This is how you reduce the oem opening. The unit in the pic is a newer Vetrifigo.

this is the new install with reduced opening to fit the companionway.
