i take it that the higher ups (the answer guys) are ok with using a rectifier from radio shack i did a stupid and arc shorted the pos on the side of the motor i might try this.

why don't you buy a merc rectifer put it in and be done witth it? We all know it is not cheap to own a boat. Mine cost about 30 bucks and 15 minutes. I'm not a mech so I feel good to know it is done and I won't be stranded with a dead battery.<br /> Dead Eye

Remember................ a verydepleted battery lookes like almost a dead short to a new rectifier. Charge it 1st or risk a loss.<br /><br />-W
