Head on over to party cove.......well it used to be a fun place now you have four boats all competing for the loudest radio award....unless you are fifteen feet away from their boat it all bleeds together.....do these people not realize they ruin the day for everyone else :confused:

Was hoping a few might read this and stop.....why can they not take turns playing their music...???

Same reason the audio in their cars makes the taillights dim. The contest is to see who is the biggest jerk on the block.

That's why I put in a 235 amp alternator for my 2200 watt stereo in my Silverado...I do only listen to it with the windows up on surface streets and down on the freeway...

For some people(like me) stereos in vehicles are about the music not being an *******...

Heck , I live on the corner of a REALLY busy intersection....between the ambulances ( I live less than one mile from a Trauma Center ER...) , and the police ,fire dept., loud pipe motorcycles, and the ignorant ones with their car stereos... I hardly ever get a decent nights sleep...not to mention JAKE BRAKES!!!!

Re: Radio Wars-------Who has the loudest radio------boating etiquette

yes, a month ago a boat load of teens in a nice ski boat with a rack had it pumping about 130 decibels rolled up to us as we're about to dock and get off the lake. And it was very painful for 3 reasons.

- First my family, including my daughter 6 year old and son 11 year old along with a friend doesn't need XXX lyrics of someone humping a ho' in a tricked out bling'ed out car (regardless if it's slipknot, blink 182, sam kinison's ghost or whatever, adult lyrics are not for children)
- There were no less than 18 kids on that boat which even a nice ski boat at 18 feet or so, can't really be legal. all had beer in hand.
- I couldn't even relate why they didn't care they were obnoxious. etiquette? i don't even think they could of spelled it.

Even at 18, I kept it cool and never annoyed anyone other than loud car audio, but windows UP!

Only thing to do was ignore them and get the hell out of there asap. However, since admiral steers her into the trailer, I'm sure they got more of an earful while I was fetching the car. she promptly boated off the dock and bitched at me for trying to tie off!

She even commented afterward how rude they were with the scene. I agreed. I guess it's just like the recent southpark where once you get to a certain age, (they called it a cynical a'hole) just everything is sh*t that use to matter?

I'm way past teens, but never past respect. Maybe the military did that.

Re: Radio Wars-------Who has the loudest radio------boating etiquette

We took a young man in to live with us about 4 months ago. He's 18 and a friend of my 2 sons. He's into that boom boom "music". I told him I didn't want to hear it AT ALL !!! Wife and I went to the store, and was gone about 2 hours. 3/4 of a block from the house, I could hear it. Before I got to the house, the police showed up just ahead of me.

I have a good repor with the police in this little town. The cop looked at me when I got out of my truck, pointed to the house, and shrugged his shoulders with a WTH look on his face. I just nodded at him, told him to follow me. I walked into the garage, got a pair of linesman pliers, walked into the bedroom where the "noise" was coming from, and cut about 2' out of the speaker wires on each side !! Then told him to get the speakers out of the house.

He was told that if the police, or a complaint EVER came in, or the police showed up, I'd smash the speaker myself.

Been real quiet around here. ;)

Loud pipes save lives.

While the noise is terrible on some bikes I understand that if other motorists can hear you coming they are less likely to cause an accident because they didn't know you were there.

I guess for me, if there is a logical reason behind the noise I can tolerate it much more than if it's done for no reason at all.

This kinda ties into the whole thing.
10 years or so ago I was pulled over for my car stereo being too loud, it wasn't here in town where there is no decibel ordinance. As the cop was checking my car with his meter a bike rolled by with "drag pipes" and his meter went off the charts. I gave him a WTH look.
His reply "The ordinance only applys to stereos." My stereo wasn't illeagal by the way.
Loud pipes are annoying and the notion that they save lives is a myth and an excuse to be annoying. There is no need for a stereo or pipes to be so loud that they rattle the windows in the houses you are driving by.
As for the OP's situation, the best you can hope for is that eventually one or two of them will turn it up so loud that they will blow something. Has anybody tried asking them to turn it down??

I am not a fan of loud stereos, but it's more for the lyrics that usually go along with them. I'm only 26 and enjoy songs with some foul language, but when the nastiest rap song is playing so loud you can hear it for blocks... it's just rude in my opinion. Loud motorcycles I am not a fan of, but my weekend fun car is pretty loud, of which I enjoy.

I do however drive as slow and tame as possible when I have the car out late. No need to wake everyone up.

Who's got the loudest radio here? The DNR does when they pull next to you. They don't take kindly when this happens on the river.

When it comes to car stereos....well whatever, like LT said when you're young thats your culture. The difference is the power of the newer stereos. I remember in the late '70's having triaxial 6x9's and a 120 watt (cassette) amplifier was largely state of the art. (Of course....the music was better then..:D:D)
At least when the loudness issue is on the street and in cars, its usually a pretty short term (30 sec?) noise annoyance is only maybe as long as a stoplight.
When it's on the water and sounds carries so much on the water and you can't get away from it...then it's rude on their behalf and it's a drag and a spoiler for the 'listenee'.

Well said. I assume that nobody above has ever owned a muscle car with loud exhaust, driven a motorcycle with pipes, had a home or car stereo playing music they thought was good, just a little too loud, or even had a backyard party that accidentally ran late into the night eh? People seem to easily forget their own mistakes in leiu of someone elses yet the past isnt always as rose colored as we remember. Just because some feel that Motzart is better than Metallica doesnt mean we arent all annoying in our own right. If the atmosphere says party, best be puttin a hat on.

I can honestly answer every question posed above as: No!

Unlike some, I do realize that I am not the only person on the Planet.

Some of today's technology has honestly decreased basic social skills. We don't talk face to face anymore. We don't know, or want to know, our neighbors, in many cases. It's just a different social dynamic.

You hit the nail on the head, BP.......

Own one now, and at 49, I still think the exhaust sounds sweet! Yes it's loud, but a good loud....:D

I kinda like the sound of my drag pipes on my Ironhead Sportster! Maybe if the morons in the cages didn't think the owned the road and was aware of things around them instead of....talking on their cell phones, drinking coffee, texting and fightin with the kids in the back seat.....I might take them off......until then I'll stick with my helmet sticker "LOUD PIPES SAVE LIVES" or "IF IT'S TO LOUD....YOUR TOO OLD!!"

It's good to be an American !!

I agree. If your in the party cove, get ready to party or go somewhere else.

I've got close to 2000 watts of stereo in my boat and I'm not afraid to use it...lol
