rain. aft curtain to hardtop seal?

lately i been having to boat in the rain, a lot. darn rain just won't go away. anyways, my question is.... is there anything a fella can do to keep the water from flowing down the hardtop and then being stopped by the small dam created by attaching the aft curtain, and then water running in between the snaps and into the boat? it's kind of a water fall inside the boat at that point..

last weekend it rained on me again. best i got from my neighbor here in lincoln was it rained 1.5''. i had 1.25 in my rain gauge. anyways, i saw it coming while out at the lake and prepared like usual and deployed the aft curtain. this time though, i got inventive. duck tape (red green would love me) i duck taped the aft curtain to the hardtop all across the top. the seal was on the hardtop mostly and i will say, it worked for all practical purpose. but i'm hoping to come up with some kinda idea that would be more permanent. also, the less i have to mod my boat, the better.

any ideas?

I don't have the curtain. However, my snaps are inside the underside of the top and the water probably wouldn't flow in unless it was backed to the wind or it was leaking at the aluminum trim and running around the backside of the fiberglass. I hope that makes sense.

no aft curtain? ya should get one of them db. they are the greatest thing since sliced bread i think. and mine leaks... still the best thing since sliced bread...

interesting about your snap location. the snaps on mine are on top of the aluminum rail, hence the dam it makes when deploying the aft curtain.

if ya look close at the pic. ya can see the water drops all along the bottom edge of the hardtop. this is the issue i'm having. usually the leak only occurs in a monsoon. but as this pic shows. the whole aft curtain is getting saturated in this pic. that's the way many of my outtings as of late have left me. drenched..

i suppose i could install new snaps on the underside. but then my aft curtain would have to be modded too. thanks for the interesting idea... not sure if i'll pursue that quite yet now or not...

My hardtop doesn't fit properly on the drivers side and needs new weatherstripping. When we get caught out in the rain, I make my wife drive. My cataracts cause problems seeing in the rain - you know.

I have one aft curtain left in stock from the last run we had made.... Hey ziggy, the water leak is actually the factory shower option. What if you put a piece of foam tape just behind the snapsit seems that may divert the water to the sides and create a seal behind the snaps... hmmmmmm

darn, i didn't catch on. next time i'll bring my bar of soap along and do myself up mr. clean....

hummmm, that sounds like an interesting idea. might have to look into that a little more... maybe a trip to the hardware store and see what's available... it might work.. i just need it to divert the water to the sides i think..

My '66 Lone Star had a wood roof over the helm which I had to replace - both the roof and that joint were leaking badly. That joint happened to be the low point between the aft curtain and the wheelhouse roof!

On the new roof, I put a 1/2" square rail just in front of the snaps and another behind the snaps. Now water that runs down the wheelhouse roof drains to the sides ahead of the first rail and water that runs down the aft curtain drains between the rails - no more drips into the wheelhouse

Good idea and it would make a good grip rail when the curtain wasn't in place.
