Rain water?

Usually my bilge is pretty dry, always a little water there but not enough for the pump to even pick up. We've had a lot of rain here this past weekend and was wondering if even with a cockpit cover on, will the bilge have a large amount of water accumulated after heavy rains. My pump rain for a few miutes yesterday and seemed to pump a lot of water out after the rainy weekend.

if you have a sag in the cockpit cover, it will leak in there. also, mine leaks around a few of the areas like the bimini cover, etc.

when was the last time you treated the canvas?

most likely you have two puddles there when it rains. since you havent treated it, the water simply soaks thru the canvas vs running off.

I need to treat my canvas every 6 months down here

My boat is kept indoors out of the weather. Just noticed a leak in the top after 5 years. Ordered Aqua Armor Friday.

Re: Rain water?

Even if the cover does not leak, some boats can collect rain water in the bilge due to poor design. My boat has two wells on the swim platform, the port side is a livewell and has always drained overboard; the starboard side is just basic storage and it drained directly in to the bilge from the factory. The cockpit cover diverts half the water that falls on it into the starboard well, and thus the bilge as delivered. I've since fixed the drain on the starboard side so it goes overboard as well.
